In conjunction with Elmhurst Art Museum, Farnsworth House presents a satellite version of Mies’s McCormick House Revealed: New Views. This reduced iteration, curated by Barry Bergdoll & coordinated by Lal Bahcecioglu, features photographs and historical comparisons of the prototype designed for prefab developments in the western Chicagoland suburbs.

The McCormick House (1952) is one of only three single-family homes in the U.S. built by Mies van der Rohe, one of the greatest architects of the 20th Century. The home is a rare and important example of his mature style, incorporating elements of his celebrated designs for the Farnsworth House and 860-880 Lake Shore Drive. On the occasion of the restoration of the McCormick House’s original façade–showing the building’s full exterior for the first time in nearly 25 years–a more extensive version of this exhibition is on view at the Elmhurst Art Museum with supplementary models, original drawings, and more.
